The day when Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth and Fortune, emerged in all her divine grace from Kshirasagara, the Ocean of Milk, is celebrated as Mahalakshmi Rising Day. It is the day when Goddess Mahalakshmi, in all her resplendent glory, rose from the depths of the ocean clothed in shining yellow, and her brilliance and divine beauty brightened all the worlds. She stepped forth with a golden pot overflowing with grains and gold in her hand. Every year, this day is celebrated on the 11th Waxing Moon in the month Kartik. It is the greatest day of the year to receive her blessings to destroy poverty consciousness and give birth to new prosperity consciousness.
